The NZ Marist Colts / Development Tour is a proud part of the rich history and tradition of NZ Marist Rugby, bringing together talented young players from Marist clubs throughout Aotearoa.

The Colts programme has a proud history dating back to 1974 and has provided generations of young Marist players with the opportunity to represent their clubs, challenge themselves at representative level and experience rugby beyond their home communities.

Today, the programme continues through the NZ Marist U23 Development Tour, providing an important pathway for emerging players to develop their rugby, leadership and life skills while representing the wider Marist family.

The tour is about more than rugby. Players are given the opportunity to build friendships and connections with fellow Marist players from across New Zealand, experience new communities and cultures, and take part in activities that reflect the values and traditions of Marist Rugby.

At the heart of the programme are the values of faith, family, community, service, respect and teamwork. Players are encouraged to grow not only as rugby players, but as young men who understand the responsibility and privilege of wearing the NZ Marist jersey.

For many players, the Development Tour becomes a defining part of their rugby journey — creating lifelong friendships, valuable experiences and a strong connection to the Marist family.

The legacy of the NZ Marist Colts continues to grow, with past players going on to represent their provinces, their country and the wider game through coaching, refereeing and administration.
